Rail transport

Egis is an experienced engineer in the field of rail transport covering conventional, high-speed, freight and light rail systems.

Egis Group offers a wide range of engineering services:

  • planning and studying rail transport systems;
  • EPCM and turn-key projects;
  • railway safety (communication systems and signaling);
  • works supervision and commissioning;
  • supporting the Owner in managing the comprehensive projects.

Egis is involved in major high-speed and conventional projects in France, China, Brazil and many other countries. In Eastern Europe, Egis has had assignments in Czech Republic, Lithuania, and has developed design and supervision competencies in its subsidiary in Poland, where several projects of modernization of railway lines have been successfully carried out within the last years. Egis has recently been awarded a contract for designing a new railway line in Bulgaria.

As of January 2014 the overall railways network of Ukraine totaled to 21.6 thousand km, out of which 45% are electrified. The rolling stock covers 116 thousand freight and 5.3 thousand passenger cars, as well as about 4 thousand locos. By 2026 it is planned to rehabilitate electrify the existing railway sections, establish high-speed rail connections, purchase new rolling stock and other equipment. For this purposes the government of Ukraine plans investing $2.8 B by 2016 and additional $11 B– by 2026.

In Ukraine Egis has been so far involved in a number of institutional regional projects (e.g., TRACECA Motorways of the Sea, TRACECA Logistical Centers and Motorways of the Sea) dealing with the development of multi-modal (rail-road-maritime transport) systems. Now Egis intends to develop its presence in the railway sector in Ukraine, being a key partner for the country with the capacity of providing technical assistance services for the reform of the National Railway Company and project management services for modernization of the railway network.
