On December 12, 2018, an open public discussion was held in Kyiv on new changes in state building codes regarding the design of streets and roads of settlements

The discussion was led by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Building and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Mr. Lev Partskhaladze

As part of the project “Modernization and Safety Improvements of the Road Network in Ukraine”, Ihor Mohyla (Egis Ukraina) prepared an analysis of Ukrainian norms and standards for the design of streets of settlements, as well as recommendations and proposals for their update and presented the working paper " Improvement of the design standards of streets and roads of settlements ". The main objective of the working paper is road safety and the creation of a sustainable transport system.

The topic is very relevant as if we analyze the state of the streets of settlements, then we will see that there is no single governing body and the Ministry of Regional Development is responsible for the development and update of all state building codes, including those relating to the design of streets and roads of settlements and associated transport infrastructure.

The idea of giving priority to creating comfortable and safe conditions for pedestrians and cyclists, and then for other participants of the movement, was also actively discussed at the meeting.

The speakers were Ihor Mohyla (Egis Ukraina) and Artem Bezuglyi (State enterprise DorNDI).
