On October 6th, on the eve of the 20th anniversary of EGIS in Ukraine the Commercial Chamber of France in Ukraine together with EGIS organized a training on FIDIC standards
For the training the two well-known French institutions invited about 30 engineers and lawyers of Ukrainian and French companies, those who cooperate with foreign technical supervision experts at implementation of engineering projects. Among attendees there were Dorinvest, Kyivvodocanal, Kharkivvodokanal, Kyivinzhproekt, Lvivavtodor, Ertle Bud, Jeantet Associes, Technagliad plus, and newcomer employees of the EGIS company.
The training was led by Roger Ribeiro, EGIS expert and Maxim Molchan, engineering expert in Ukraine’s projects of the company.
When asked the question why the FIDIC standards became a topic for training, Roger Ribeiro said that "for both Europe and Ukraine the important part of any construction or engineering activities is a properly drafted contract that governs all potentially possible situations. The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (commonly known by its French title as FIDIC) for more than a century of its activity has formed a whole range of standard contracts that can and should be applied in Ukraine".
According to one of the training’s participants, Kateryna Karpenko, representative of Kyivvodokanal, “the training organized by EGIS gave us an opportunity to get practical solutions drawn from Ukrainian and European experience". Overall, all participants highly appreciated the quality of the training and expressed their willingness to continue such courses regularly.
