Egis will be in charge of preparation of design, detailed design and bidding documents for the improvement of existing urban water supply system.
Novovolynsk, a 50 000 inhabitants’ city in the west of Ukraine, was built in 1950 as a mining town. Currently, from the total amount of 11 mining companies, only 4 are still functioning. Thus, the need in water intake has significantly reduced.
Moreover, the major part of the networks is obsolete due to more than a 30-year excess of operation life term. As a result, implementing those modernization works will help the city to resolve three main issues: upgrade of the deteriorated assets requesting permanent and costly maintenance works; reduction of energy consumption and finally, supply water of good quality for the best price.
Thereby, the scope of works for Egis consists in development of design documents, specifications and cost estimates for reconstruction of water transmission pipelines and construction of iron removal plant, and support the Client in tendering a construction contract.
It’s important to note that this assignment is the third current contract held by Egis in the water sector in Ukraine. Together, mission of technical supervision in Ternopil, biogas production project in Lviv and design works in Novovolynsk, form the company’s comprehensive portfolio of engineering activities and innovative technical approaches that are able to assure the most efficient water management for the Client.
