Egis on its supervision mission for safer roads in Ukraine

At 14th of June the Project for Supervision of Capital Repair and Reconstruction on M-03 Kyiv - Kharkiv - Dovzhanskiy Road – one of the major national traffic artery – was officially launched at the kick-off meeting in the Egis office in Ukraine.

Further to being granted an IBRD loan to finance the Road Sector Development Project in Ukraine, the State Road Agency of Ukraine ‘Ukravtodor’ concluded a 3-year consultancy agreement with Egis to improve road network management, transport connectivity, maintenance operations and road safety for users on Poltava Kharkiv main road corridor.

The key goal of the project is to upgrade the important transport arteryof the country to a four-lane divided highway with high safety specifications including central and side crash barriers required for a first category motorway.

Amongst others, major tasks of Egis as the Engineer on this project include supervision of works for the capital repair, construction and reconstruction of three sections of M-03 Road: 15.3 km, 28.9 km and 25.0 km long, including road, bridges, drainage and ancillary works in full compliance with the FIDIC Red Book and Ukrainian legislation.

Major improvements in the M-03 corridor are expected to benefit the general public. Ultimately, by the time of the project’s completion in 2020, the travel time between Poltava and Kharkiv shall be reduced from 140 minutes now to 96 minutes in future, while the number of direct road users will go up to 40,000 a day, with about 4.4 million indirect beneficiaries in Poltava and Kharkiv regions.

Successful implementation of the M03 project will further strengthen the competency of Egis as an experienced partner in designing and building modern and safe roads in Ukraine.
