A stakeholders meeting on enforcement of road traffic rules in Ukraine took place

On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, stakeholders meeting on enforcement of road traffic rules in Ukraine took place in the hotel “Ukraine”.

     The main purpose of the meeting was to promote changes in legislation on improving road safety and enforcement of road traffic rules in Ukraine. The co-organizer of the meeting was the project funded by the EIB, “Modernization and Safety Improvements of the Road Network in Ukraine”, executed by EGIS Ukraina.

     The experts on road safety, as well as representatives of non-government organizations, international organizations had the possibility to present their speeches during the meeting, headed by the people’s Deputy of Ukraine, Head of the Subcommittee on road safety of the Committee of transport of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ihor Didenko. Media representatives had an opportunity to ask their questions during the discussion of the main issues from the agenda.

     During the meeting, the presentations on road safety were presented taking into account the latest approaches to “implementation”, “training” and “persuading”.

     The attention was also paid to highlighting of the current state of legislation, enforcement of which can save peoples’ lives and can reduce the level of injured in road accidents in Ukraine.

     People’s Deputy Ihor Didenko spoke about key priorities for Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (overview of the issue on monitoring the compliance with legislation in the field of road safety, in particular, on the adoption of the draft Law of Ukraine No 7286, which is scheduled for November 8, 2018. Oleksiy Biloshytsky, Deputy Head of Patrol Police Department, National Police of Ukraine, stressed the need to strengthen the control over the compliance with legislation by the National Police in the framework of a systematic approach on reducing the number of injured in road accidents in Ukraine.

     The representatives of the project Eric Hoyrup, Ramona Lupu and Petro Zhyzhyian presented the preliminary results of the communication campaign “Do not rush, Ukraine!”, which took place in six regions of Ukraine and two cities.
